Scouting America

Who is Scouting America?

Scouting America is one of the nation’s largest and most prominent youth development organizations. Founded in 1910 as the Boy Scouts of America, the organization officially rebranded to Scouting America on February 8, 2025, to better reflect its inclusive mission of serving all young people. While the name has changed, the core values and traditions that have shaped generations of young leaders remain the same.

What is Scouts BSA?

Scouts BSA is the specific Scouting America program for youth ages 11 through 17 (or youth who have completed the fifth grade and are at least 10 years old). It is the flagship program most people think of when they hear the word “Scouting” – campouts, merit badges, rank advancement, and outdoor adventure.

Scouting’s Mission

The mission of Scouting America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Scout Law.

A Scout is...

Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thirty, Brave, Clean, and Reverent.
